About Us

The Gloucestershire Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers is one of over a hundred guilds in the UK affiliated with the national Association of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers (www.wsd.org.uk).  We have approximately 60 members and meet regularly on a monthly basis from January to November.

The aim of the guild is to promote the arts of weaving, spinning and dyeing.  This is supported through an innovative programme of events that offers a variety of opportunities to members (and visitors) to widen their knowledge about different areas of the guilds chosen crafts.  Although the main focus of the guild is weaving, spinning and dyeing many members are also interested in felting.

Previous programmes have included the areas of card braiding , basket weaving, natural dyeing, felt making, hand knitting techniques, split ply braiding, warp ikat dyeing and a talk by Tim Parry Williams (Senior Lecturer: Woven Textiles, Bath School of Art and Design).

The Guild has a library of books that are available for loan to members to enable them to develop their skills in their chosen craft.
